Here you can check the German article in Germany's famous tabloid "BILD", which I intended to link to the video of OneRepublic but was not allowed. I tried to translated the article for you:
Michael Wendler's song ripped off?
Usually German artists are blamed to copy their songs from American superstars. This time it seems to be the other way around.
The current song “Something I need” from the US-band
OneRepublic (“Apologize”) suspiciously sounds like the ten years old song “Schau nicht auf mich herab” (Don’t look down on me) – and this comes from from jungle-flop*
Miachael Wendler (41) of all people. Although OneRepublic lead singer and song
writer Ryan Tedder (34) is deemed to be one of the best of his craft worldwide and
writes for stars like Adele, Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez. Isn’t it beneath
him to steal from the party singer.
The music publisher Schedler, reserving the rights of the
song from Wendler: “We ordered an assessment that determined more than 90
percent of the strophe match”, said Rudi Schedler to "BILD". “Our
layer checks further steps respective a possible copyright infringement.”
Trade insiders estimate Wendler can calculate with a six-figure
sum if the lawsuit is successful.
* a reality television series colloquially referred to in German language as “Das Dschungelcamp” (The Jungle Camp) based on the British show “I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!”. Michael Wendler participated in the 8th season, but left the camp after only 4 days by wimpy calling the name of the show “I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!”. His short attendance seems to be only a publicity stunt as Wendler’s new CD was published on January, 24th.
